Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@oakwoodriskgroup.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Oakwood Risk Training provides three flagship Level 5 certified qualifications: the Certified Security Risk Manager (CSRM®), the Certified Crisis Management Professional (CCMP®), and the Certified Operational Resilience Manager (CORM®). These courses are accredited by SFJ Awards and endorsed by the Skills and Education Group, providing recognised professional credentials for security leads, risk managers, and business continuity executives.

  • CSRM®: Focuses on end-to-end security risk assessment, threat mitigation, and physical/cyber resilience integration.
  • CCMP®: Focuses on executive crisis leadership, decision-making under stress, and reputational management.
  • CORM®: Focuses on business continuity frameworks, critical function mapping, and operational disruption recovery.

The Certified Security Risk Manager (CSRM®) is an advanced Level 5 qualification regulated by Ofqual and awarded by SFJ Awards (as the Level 5 Certificate for Security Risk Management Practitioners).

Delivered by Oakwood Risk Training, it provides dual certification: the official Ofqual-regulated SFJ Awards certificate and the professional CSRM® designation, placing it at the academic equivalent of a Higher National Diploma (HND) or foundation degree tailored specifically for security risk professionals.

While all three are Level 5 professional development certifications offered by Oakwood Risk Training, each addresses a distinct discipline within corporate resilience:

  • CSRM® (Security): Teaches you how to identify, assess, and manage physical, personnel, and counter-terrorism security risks.
  • CCMP® (Crisis Leadership): Prepares leaders to steer organisations through live incidents, media scrutiny, and high-impact emergencies.
  • CORM® (Operational Continuity): Provides tools to map operational dependencies, define impact tolerances, and maintain continuous business operations during disruption.

The CSRM® is engineered for security professionals moving from tactical roles into senior, strategic management positions. It is ideal for:

  • Security Managers & Directors: Professionals managing enterprise-wide physical, personnel, and operational security risks.
  • Military & Police Service Leavers: Former armed forces personnel or law enforcement officers transitioning into corporate security leadership.
  • Risk, Resilience & Facilities Leads: Corporate leads seeking an Ofqual-regulated credential to oversee security convergence, travel risk, and crisis response.

Oakwood Risk Training offers two flexible learning routes for the CSRM®:

  • 5-Day In-Person Classroom: An intensive, practitioner-led 5-day residential phase followed by guided self-study to complete workplace-based portfolio assignments.
  • Online Distance Learning: Flexible 24/7 access via our dedicated learning portal, allowing working professionals to complete the ~120 study hours at their own pace over 3 to 12 months with 1-on-1 tutor support.

While Level 6 diplomas (like CSMP®) and university degrees focus heavily on academic theory, the Level 5 CSRM® delivers practical, operational capability across the full resilience lifecycle.

The CSRM® stands apart by integrating security risk assessment directly with crisis leadership and operational resilience, taught entirely by senior practitioners with real-world policing, military, and corporate security experience.

Yes, Oakwood Risk Training offers flexible online distance learning for key certified programmes, including the CSRM®, CCMP®, and CORM® certifications. Learners gain 24/7 access to on-demand video lessons, interactive study resources, and tutor support, allowing working professionals to complete approximately 120 study hours at their own pace from anywhere.

Yes, Oakwood Risk Training is an approved provider under the Enhanced Learning Credits Administration Service (ELCAS). UK Armed Forces service leavers and veterans can use ELCAS credits towards flagship certified qualifications such as the Certified Security Risk Manager (CSRM®), Certified Crisis Management Professional (CCMP®), and bundled resilience pathways.

Key qualifications offered by Oakwood Risk Training—including the CSRM® and Level 3 counter-terrorism awards—are accredited by SFJ Awards, an Ofqual-regulated awarding organisation specialising in protective services, security, and emergency management. Learners receive dual certification from Oakwood Risk Training and the recognised awarding body upon successful completion.
