Certified Security and Resilience Courses - FAQs

Oakwood Risk Training provides three flagship Level 5 certified qualifications: the Certified Security Risk Manager (CSRM®), the Certified Crisis Management Professional (CCMP®), and the Certified Operational Resilience Manager (CORM®). These courses are accredited by SFJ Awards and endorsed by the Skills and Education Group, providing recognised professional credentials for security leads, risk managers, and business continuity executives.

  • CSRM®: Focuses on end-to-end security risk assessment, threat mitigation, and physical/cyber resilience integration.
  • CCMP®: Focuses on executive crisis leadership, decision-making under stress, and reputational management.
  • CORM®: Focuses on business continuity frameworks, critical function mapping, and operational disruption recovery.

While all three are Level 5 professional development certifications offered by Oakwood Risk Training, each addresses a distinct discipline within corporate resilience:

  • CSRM® (Security): Teaches you how to identify, assess, and manage physical, personnel, and counter-terrorism security risks.
  • CCMP® (Crisis Leadership): Prepares leaders to steer organisations through live incidents, media scrutiny, and high-impact emergencies.
  • CORM® (Operational Continuity): Provides tools to map operational dependencies, define impact tolerances, and maintain continuous business operations during disruption.

Yes, Oakwood Risk Training offers flexible online distance learning for key certified programmes, including the CSRM®, CCMP®, and CORM® certifications. Learners gain 24/7 access to on-demand video lessons, interactive study resources, and tutor support, allowing working professionals to complete approximately 120 study hours at their own pace from anywhere.

Key qualifications offered by Oakwood Risk Training—including the CSRM® and Level 3 counter-terrorism awards—are accredited by SFJ Awards, an Ofqual-regulated awarding organisation specialising in protective services, security, and emergency management. Learners receive dual certification from Oakwood Risk Training and the recognised awarding body upon successful completion.

Counter Terrorism and Martyn's Law Courses - FAQs

Yes, the SFJ Level 3 Award in Counter-Terrorism Protective Security and Preparedness (CTPSaP) directly aligns with the statutory obligations established under Martyn’s Law (the Terrorism Protection of Premises Act 2025).

Delivered by Oakwood Risk Training, this Ofqual-regulated qualification provides designated premises supervisors, security managers, and compliance leads with the exact skills required to undertake threat assessments, implement physical security measures, and establish mandatory emergency response procedures for public-facing venues and events.

This Level 3 course is designed for individuals responsible for public safety, security risk management, and operational preparedness across qualifying premises, including:

  • Standard & Enhanced Tier Venue Managers: Managers overseeing stadiums, arenas, shopping centres, leisure facilities, and educational campuses.
  • Security & Operations Leads: Head of Security, Operations Directors, and Facilities Managers preparing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Event Organisers & Local Authorities: Safety Advisory Group (SAG) members, event safety leads, and public realm planners.

The curriculum delivers practical expertise across four critical pillars of protective security:

  • Threat Recognition & Methodology: Understanding modern terrorist tactics, weapons, Hostile Reconnaissance identification, and attack vectors.
  • Protective Security Controls: Conducting vulnerability assessments, implementing physical/procedural measures, and applying search/access control regimes.
  • Response & Emergency Planning: Designing immediate reaction plans (RUN HIDE TELL, lockdown, evacuation) and managing dynamic incidents.
  • Compliance & Risk Assessment: Drafting legally robust terrorism risk assessments tailored to Martyn's Law compliance.

Oakwood Risk Training delivers the Level 3 CTPSaP course through interactive instructor-led sessions, including in-person classroom courses (at our training centre or on-site at client premises) and live virtual classrooms. Unlike off-the-shelf reading modules offered by some providers, our courses feature real-world scenario exercises and instruction led by former police and counter-terrorism specialists.

Yes, this qualification is regulated by Ofqual and awarded by SFJ Awards, the specialist awarding organisation for protective services, justice, and emergency management in the UK. Upon successful completion of the portfolio assessment, delegates receive an officially recognised qualification valid across all UK commercial and public sectors.

The Level 2 Award focuses on foundational awareness for front-line operational personnel (recognising suspicious behaviour and immediate response steps). The Level 3 Award is a management-level qualification for individuals responsible for writing risk assessments, implementing venue security measures, training staff, and ensuring statutory compliance with UK counter-terrorism legislation.

Yes, the SFJ Level 2 Award in Counter-Terrorism Protective Security Awareness is specifically structured to support organisations in meeting the staff awareness training duties required under Martyn’s Law (the Terrorism Protection of Premises Act 2025).

Delivered by Oakwood Risk Training in a concise one-day format, this Ofqual-regulated qualification provides front-line employees with the essential skills to recognise suspicious behaviour, understand threat landscapes, and execute immediate response protocols without needing to complete complex risk assessments.

The 7-hour curriculum covers eight core operational modules:

  1. Current terrorism threat landscapes and common attack methodologies.
  2. The legal framework and intent behind Martyn’s Law.
  3. Recognising hostile reconnaissance and suspicious behaviour.
  4. Effective reporting channels and escalation procedures.
  5. Immediate response actions during live incidents.
